Yard & Maintenance Technician

Tom Kraemer Inc. is looking for a dependable, hands-on team member to support our container yard, shop, and daily operations in Carlton. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys variety in their day, likes working outdoors, and is comfortable jumping into different projects and tasks as needed.

Work may include shipping container repairs, light mechanical work, forklift or skid-loader operation, yard organization, mowing and property upkeep, and general operational support around the yard and shop.

Mechanical ability and/or basic welding skills are strongly preferred. We can help train the right person on other areas of the job.

We are open to either a full-time seasonal or part-time candidate for this role. A full-time seasonal employee can expect a consistent 40 hours per week during the busy season, along with full benefits, followed by a typical winter layoff period. We would also consider a part-time candidate looking for a steady schedule of at least 20 hours per week during the busy season.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform basic shipping container repairs, welding and patch work
• Assist with light-duty maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, forklifts, and shop equipment
• Operate forklifts and skid loaders to move and organize containers and materials
• Help maintain an organized and safe container yard and shop
• Assist with mowing, trimming, and general property upkeep
• Support shop cleanup, organization, and improvement projects
• Assist with general operational and maintenance tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills are strongly preferred
• Basic welding experience is strongly preferred
• Forklift, skid-loader, or equipment operation experience is helpful
• Self-motivated and dependable
• Comfortable working both independently and with a small team
• Willing to work outdoors and in a hands-on environment

Starting Pay Range: $24.00 – $28.00 per hour
