General Summary:
The Pathology Send-Outs Assistant is responsible for the preparation, documentation, and coordination of all send-out cases and slides. This role supports pathology workflow by ensuring accurate case preparation, timely shipment to reference laboratories, and proper entry of pathology reports into the laboratory information system. The position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Example of Essential Duties:
- Prepare slides and package cases for send-outs
- Complete and maintain send-out logs for tracking cases
- Print and organize required documentation, including patient information, pathology reports, and supporting materials
- Enter and verify clinical information and ICD-10 codes
- Print draft pathology reports as needed for case preparation
- Receive and process returned materials, ensuring proper labeling and filing
- Enter pathology reports into the laboratory information system and ensure cases are completed accurately
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by management to support departmental and operational needs
