Housekeeping (Temporary)

GENERAL PURPOSE: Cleans all areas of the elder care facility by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: In addition to performing Essential Functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions based upon the requirements of the organization.

1. Performs routine cleaning of a maintenance and corrective nature in resident/patient rooms, apartments, dining rooms, meeting rooms, nurses’ stations, clinical areas, offices, restrooms, lobbies, corridors, elevators, stairways, and any areas as assigned, in accordance with standard procedure including:
2. Replenishing supplies.
3. Removing regular and infectious trash to designated areas.
4. High dusting.
5. Arranging furniture in an orderly fashion.
6. Cleaning, and then making beds, as appropriate, with clean linen in prescribed manner.
7. Utilizing the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
8. Removing/re-hanging cubicle curtains, as necessary.
9. Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of AHSSNF and its Environmental Services Department.
10. Utilizes and maintains equipment properly by:
11. Cleaning and storing housekeeping carts properly.
12. Stocking housekeeping carts with appropriate supplies.
13. Demonstrates personal responsibility and respect for self and others.
14. Adheres to all Department policies, procedures, and mandatory requirements.
15. Communicate professionally and courteously with residents, patients, staff, guests, and family members.
16. Follows all Infection Control practices, including hand washing techniques, standard precautions, isolation precautions, and safety precautions.
17. Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
18. Demonstrates excellence in customer service.
19. Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
20. Able to adjust to changing situations and needs.
21. Participate in product evaluation.
22. Participates in other duties, as assigned by the Supervisor from time to time, which employee is qualified for and can reasonably be expected to complete with minimal orientation.
23. Maintains age specific safety precautions including:
24. Elderly – No small or sharp objects or tools that may injure residents/patients or visitors will be left out. Cleaning
25. Carts will not be left unattended. Keep hallways and pathways clear of debris, cleaning equipment, and tools.
26. Environmental Service closets will remain locked at all times.
27. All staff are required to follow all safety regulations and precautions at all times.
28. Staff must ensure that their department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
29. Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to immediate supervisor/manager.
30. Report all accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor/manager within 24hrs.
31. All staff must wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and or blood/body fluids or when doing Hazardous work i.e., working with chemicals, electrical or day to day maintenance repairs.
32. All Staff are required to participate in the O’odham Centered Care - Managers/Supervisors will help staff in participating in O’odham Centered Care.
33. Recognize your role as part of the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts of your organization.
34. Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
35. Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
36. Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
37. Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization.
38. Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.
39. Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude), including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings.

QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

 High school diploma or GED preferred, however if not completed, willing to obtain during employment. And one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
