What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeping (Temporary) position at Tohono O'odham Nursing Care Authority?
GENERAL PURPOSE: Cleans all areas of the elder care facility by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: In addition to performing Essential Functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions based upon the requirements of the organization.
- Performs routine cleaning of a maintenance and corrective nature in resident/patient rooms, apartments, dining rooms, meeting rooms, nurses’ stations, clinical areas, offices, restrooms, lobbies, corridors, elevators, stairways, and any areas as assigned, in accordance with standard procedure including:
- Replenishing supplies.
- Removing regular and infectious trash to designated areas.
- High dusting.
- Arranging furniture in an orderly fashion.
- Cleaning, and then making beds, as appropriate, with clean linen in prescribed manner.
- Utilizing the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
- Removing/re-hanging cubicle curtains, as necessary.
- Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of AHSSNF and its Environmental Services Department.
- Utilizes and maintains equipment properly by:
- Cleaning and storing housekeeping carts properly.
- Stocking housekeeping carts with appropriate supplies.
- Demonstrates personal responsibility and respect for self and others.
- Adheres to all Department policies, procedures, and mandatory requirements.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with residents, patients, staff, guests, and family members.
- Follows all Infection Control practices, including hand washing techniques, standard precautions, isolation precautions, and safety precautions.
- Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates excellence in customer service.
- Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
- Able to adjust to changing situations and needs.
- Participate in product evaluation.
- Participates in other duties, as assigned by the Supervisor from time to time, which employee is qualified for and can reasonably be expected to complete with minimal orientation.
- Maintains age specific safety precautions including:
- Elderly – No small or sharp objects or tools that may injure residents/patients or visitors will be left out. Cleaning
- Carts will not be left unattended. Keep hallways and pathways clear of debris, cleaning equipment, and tools.
- Environmental Service closets will remain locked at all times.
- All staff are required to follow all safety regulations and precautions at all times.
- Staff must ensure that their department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
- Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to immediate supervisor/manager.
- Report all accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor/manager within 24hrs.
- All staff must wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and or blood/body fluids or when doing Hazardous work i.e., working with chemicals, electrical or day to day maintenance repairs.
- All Staff are required to participate in the O’odham Centered Care - Managers/Supervisors will help staff in participating in O’odham Centered Care.
- Recognize your role as part of the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts of your organization.
- Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
- Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
- Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
- Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization.
- Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.
- Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude), including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings.
QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED preferred, however if not completed, willing to obtain during employment. And one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
