Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Pork & Poultry Purchaser / International Meat Trader to join our team. This role is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and trading pork and poultry products across domestic and international markets. The ideal candidate will have strong industry connections, deep market knowledge, and a proven track record in meat trading.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure pork and poultry products from suppliers in the USA, Canada, and global markets
- Develop and maintain relationships with processors, suppliers, and distributors
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply-demand dynamics
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers and buyers
- Have knowledge of import/export processes, including logistics, documentation, and compliance
- Identify new business opportunities in international markets
- Mitigate risks related to supply chain and market volatility
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in meat purchasing, trading, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of pork and poultry markets in North America and internationally
- Existing network of industry contacts
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to analyze market data and make strategic decisions
- Bilingual with Spanish
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)
Preferred Skills
- Experience in commodity trading or protein markets
- Familiarity with USDA regulations and global export standards
- Strong financial and risk management understanding
