The Workplace Strategy and Design Management is responsible for administering support service programs in the areas of space management, space planning and design (including renovations), and move planning and management for the USPTO offices and workforce.
Specialized Experienceis experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service.
At the GS-11, the next lower grade level is a GS-09.
Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience reviewing design plans to analyze current and future move and space management requirements.
At the GS-12, the next lower grade level is a GS-11.
Specialized experience for this position includes: experience reviewing design plans to analyze current and future move and space management requirements AND experience leading office space and move projects, developing and preparing cost analyses regarding office moves to support budget projections or long-range plans.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Responsibilities:
The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia. Presence at the Alexandria, VA campus is required for this role, as it includes on site functions that must be performed in person. Position may be eligible for situational telework in accordance with agency policy/business unit discretion. The agency currently allows for 52 hours of telework per calendar year.The individual selected for this position will be responsible for the following:
- Preparing, consolidating and finalizing floor plans, survey and inspect existing space generated from a renovation and/or move request to obtain the maximum/most efficient use of space within an Agency's guidelines.
- Identifying and resolving work flow and layout problems resulting from program changes, ineffective layout, and personnel restacking plans and moves.
- Supporting budget projections for long range plans regarding space planning moves.
- Attending meetings, participates in seminars, serves on special planning committees, and advises USPTO employees and Offices on move and space planning projects.
