Part- or Full-Time School Counselor Position
(Part-time, up to 20 hours per week; Full-time, up to 40 hours per week)
Tilton School seeks an experienced and energetic part-time or full-time School Counselor to perform professional therapeutic work in assessment, behavior management, and counseling students. This second School Counselor will also assess the therapeutic needs of students in crisis and make appropriate recommendations for outside treatment. The successful candidate will work in conjunction with the School Counselor/Clinician.

- The ability to comply with policies established by federal and state laws;
- The ability to work with outside sources to meet the intellectual, emotional and behavioral functions of students as needed;
- The ability to develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents;
- Assistance with the appropriate placement of students according to needs;
- The ability to successfully run a group/peer counseling program
- see students on an appointment and “drop in” basis; make any necessary referrals
- conduct and coordinate mental health assessments of students
- maintain appropriate communication and follow up with other members of the Health Center staff, the Community Life Office, the Academic Office, and the Assistant Head of School
- serve as a resource for faculty and staff in an effort to support their students as advisors, dorm parents, teachers, and coaches
- help to coordinate leaves
- contribute to further evolution of the Health and Wellness education program at Tilton
- be a presence in the life of the school
- 2 or more years of mental health counseling experience
- Minimum of a Masters Degree
- Experience with adolescents, residential communities preferred
- Criminal background and driver’s license record check required
- NH License or License Eligible in the counseling fields such as LCMHC, LICSW, School Counseling, or similar
