Part-Time Custodian (High School Campus)

Position Summary
The Sharon Academy seeks a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Custodian to support the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of our high school campus. Serving approximately 120 students, our high school is a close-knit learning environment that depends on well-maintained facilities. This is a year-round position working 15–22 hours per week, primarily in the afternoons, evenings, weekends. This role reports to the Director of Facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine cleaning and custodial duties, including:
Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms
Emptying trash and recycling
Dusting and wiping surfaces
Maintaining classrooms, offices, and common areas
Monitor building conditions and report maintenance needs or safety concerns
Assist with basic building maintenance and minor repairs as needed
Support seasonal and summer facilities projects, including:
Polishing concrete floors
Interior and exterior painting
Deep cleaning and preparation of school spaces
Help maintain safe outdoor areas, including walkways and entrances (e.g., light snow clearing or salting as needed)
Schedule
15–22 hours per week
Afternoons and evenings during the school year
Weekend hours
Summer hours focused on facilities and maintenance projects
Qualifications
Prior custodial, facilities, or maintenance experience preferred
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and materials
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
Reliability and a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualities
Comfort working in a school environment
Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative
Flexibility to assist with a variety of tasks
