Part-Time Custodian (High School Campus)The Sharon Academy Sharon, VermontStarting June 2026Position SummaryThe Sharon Academy seeks a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Custodian to support the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of our high school campus. Serving approximately 120 students, our high school is a close-knit learning environment that depends on well-maintained facilities. This is a year-round position working 1522 hours per week, primarily in the afternoons, evenings, weekends. This role reports to the Director of Facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine cleaning and custodial duties, including: Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floorsCleaning and sanitizing restroomsEmptying trash and recyclingDusting and wiping surfacesMaintaining classrooms, offices, and common areasMonitor building conditions and report maintenance needs or safety concernsAssist with basic building maintenance and minor repairs as neededSupport seasonal and summer facilities projects, including: Polishing concrete floorsInterior and exterior paintingDeep cleaning and preparation of school spacesHelp maintain safe outdoor areas, including walkways and entrances (e.g., light snow clearing or salting as needed)Schedule1522 hours per weekAfternoons and evenings during the school yearWeekend hoursSummer hours focused on facilities and maintenance projectsQualificationsPrior custodial, facilities, or maintenance experience preferredAbility to work independently and manage time effectivelyStrong attention to detail and commitment to cleanlinessBasic knowledge of cleaning equipment and materialsAbility to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periodsReliability and a strong work ethicPreferred QualitiesComfort working in a school environmentPositive attitude and willingness to take initiativeFlexibility to assist with a variety of tasksCompensation & BenefitsHourly position (pay based on experience)403(b) retirement plan with employer matching contributionSupportive, mission-driven work environmentAbout The Sharon AcademyThe Sharon Academy is a close-knit, mission-driven independent high school in rural Vermont, known for its supportive community and commitment to engaged learning.
