Tides, Inc. is a nonprofit recovery program serving pregnant and newly postpartum women impacted by opioid and other substance use disorders. Our program provides a coordinated system of care that includes residential housing, outpatient services, case management, and life skills support, all with the goal of preserving the mother–child bond and supporting long-term recovery.
Position Summary
The Residential Advisor plays a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive living environment for women and their children in Tides’ residential program. Residential Advisors provide day-to-day supervision, support, and guidance while modeling healthy boundaries and trauma-informed care.
This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, dependable, and comfortable working in a recovery-oriented setting with women navigating complex life challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day supervision and support to women residing in the program
- Help maintain a safe, respectful, and structured residential environment
- Support residents in following program guidelines and daily routines
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations and escalate concerns to leadership as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication with the residential and clinical team
- Model healthy boundaries, professionalism, and recovery-oriented behavior
- Support transportation, appointments, and daily living needs as assigned
- Collaborate with case managers, clinical staff, and leadership to support participant success
- Transport residents and their children to medical appointments, treatment services, and other program-related activities using a company vehicle, as needed
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Post-secondary education, certification, or relevant para-professional experience in trauma-informed care and perinatal substance use
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in basic technology, electronic documentation, and typing
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries in a residential setting
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and emotional maturity
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in recovery, residential, behavioral health, or social services settings
- Experience working with women, families, or vulnerable populations
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and substance use recovery

Additional Requirements:
- Reside in or near Wilmington, NC
- Reliable personal transportation
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
