Shift: Evenings/Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (3:00 PM Start Available)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Per Week

We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER) in Bakersfield, California. This opportunity is ideal for experienced Emergency Department nurses who thrive in a high-volume acute care setting and are confident caring for both adult and pediatric emergency patients. The facility utilizes Cerner EMR and offers exposure to a wide variety of emergency cases in a fast-paced environment.

Position Details

• Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER)
• Location: Bakersfield, CA 93301
• Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
• Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
• Shift: Evenings/Nights | 12-Hour Shifts
• Schedule: 36 Guaranteed Hours Per Week
• Shift Start: 3:00 PM (Mid Shift Available)
• Start Date: August 03, 2026
• Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend / 4 Weekend Shifts Per Month
• Floating: Required to Pediatric Emergency Department (Peds ER) only
• EMR System: Cerner

Requirements:

• Active California RN License
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room (ER) experience
• At least 2 years of recent ER experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required (No First-Time Travelers)
• Experience caring for both Adult and Pediatric Emergency patients
• Strong triage experience required
• Current BLS Certification
• Current ACLS Certification
• Current PALS Certification
• NIHSS Certification required
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and emergency response skills

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care for adult and pediatric patients.
• Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care using triage protocols.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments.
• Recognize and respond quickly to life-threatening emergencies.
• Care for patients with trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and medical emergencies.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Monitor patient status and provide ongoing reassessments.
• Document patient care accurately using the Cerner electronic medical record system.
• Float to Pediatric Emergency Department as needed while practicing within competency.
• Follow all hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety protocols.
