Three Rivers Hospice office in Mount Vernon is seeking an On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated hospice team. This On-Call RN will need to have a high degree of compassion and able to provide emotional comfort for after-hour care to our terminally ill patients and their families in their homes, nursing facilities and assisted living centers. The On-Call RN provides comprehensive nursing assessments and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team. This position is a critical link for support, handling urgent needs, managing symptoms and providing emotional support when our regular care team are not on duty.
Qualifications:
- Active license in Missouri
- Minimum of 1-2 years clinic nursing
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Reliable transportation,
- Valid driver's license and
- Current auto insurance
.What You’ll Do:
- Serve as the first point of contact for urgent patient and family needs after regular business hours.
- Provide expert symptom management, pain control, and emotional reassurance in the home or facility setting.
- Assess patient conditions, make critical care decisions, and coordinate with the interdisciplinary hospice team for follow-up care.
- Offer compassionate guidance to families, helping them navigate difficult moments with clarity and comfort.
- Document all visits, calls, and interventions promptly and accurately in accordance with hospice standards.
- Maintain readiness to travel to patient locations within the service area, ensuring timely response to calls.
