Position: Unit Operator
Reports to: Field Supervisor
Position Requirements:
- Must be 20 years of age or older at the time of hire
- Must possess a high school Diploma or GED (degree preferred)
- Possess (or ability to pass) a DOT Physical
- Must possess:
- a valid and current BLS for Healthcare Providers credential (preferred)
- Defensive Driving Credential (preferred)
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Job Responsibilities:
- Safely operates company vehicles in accordance with organizational policy, DHEC and ORS regulations.
- Response to and completion of requests for service as requested by dispatch.
- Timely completion and submission of wheelchair transfer reports
- Provides excellent customer service, including the safe lifting/moving of patients.
- Completion of daily unit check sheets, ensuring all equipment is on-board and in proper working condition.
- Maintenance of station(s) and unit(s) in accordance with organizational policy
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move 150lbs independently (300lbs with a partner)
- Able and willing to be seated, standing, walking, etc. for lengthy periods of time.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
- Ability to successfully mitigate stressful situations with co-worker, healthcare providers, customers, and the general public
- Flexibility to respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for service at any given time while assigned to a shift, including up until, and beyond, scheduled “off” times.
Summary:
The Unit Operator is responsible for the oversight of operations associated with their assigned unit, and for the duration of their shift. This includes communication with patients, the public, dispatch, healthcare personnel, etc. In addition, the Unit Operator will be required to respond to various requests for service as requested by the communications center. All responses and customer contacts will require the efficient and timely completion of reports. Other duties may be assigned as availability and organizational needs allow. Above all else, the Unit Operator will serve with compassion and professionalism.
