What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN/ LPN Weekend Manager position at Thompson House Rehabilitation & Nursing Center?
Pay: $34.00–$45.00 per hour, based on license and experience
Thompson House is a small, nonprofit, mission-driven rehabilitation and long-term care nursing center serving Brattleboro, Vermont and the surrounding communities.
We are excited to introduce a new Weekend Nurse Manager position designed to provide consistent clinical leadership and support throughout the weekend. We are looking for an experienced RN or LPN who is confident in their clinical skills, enjoys supporting staff, and can step into a leadership role while remaining hands-on with resident care.
Because this is a new position at Thompson House, we'd love the opportunity to talk with candidates about our vision for the role and how it will support both our residents and weekend team.
Weekend Schedule
The ideal schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM:
7:00 AM–3:00 PM: Direct resident care and hands-on staff support
3:00 PM–7:00 PM: In-house clinical and operational support
The Weekend Manager will also provide on-call support during designated weekend off-hours. Additional compensation is provided for on-call responsibilities.
Candidates interested in additional worked hours may also have the opportunity to work Friday evening in direct care.
Weekend Baylor Program
This position participates in our Weekend Baylor Program:
- Work two 12-hour weekend shifts
- Receive an additional 6 hours of Baylor pay
- Receive 6 hours of on-call pay
- Additional time spent actively supporting the facility outside scheduled hours may be worked/paid as applicable
- Opportunity to take every 8th weekend off, if desired
We will review the Baylor and on-call structure in detail with candidates during the interview process.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight throughout the weekend
- Support and supervise nursing staff and LNAs
- Coordinate clinical staffing needs and respond to weekend call-outs
- Provide direct resident care as needed, including medication administration, treatments, assessments, and monitoring
- Respond to changes in resident condition and provide clinical guidance to staff
- Support admissions, transfers, and other weekend clinical needs
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation in PointClickCare (PCC)
- Reinforce infection prevention practices and regulatory compliance
- Communicate significant resident, staffing, or operational concerns to appropriate leadership
- Support staff in problem-solving and clinical decision-making
- Assist with emergency situations and changes in resident condition
- Promote resident safety, quality care, and a positive team environment
- Complete other duties related to weekend facility operations and resident care as needed
Qualifications
- Current RN or LPN license; we can assist with Vermont license transfer/endorsement when applicable
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience preferred
- Long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric experience strongly preferred
- Previous charge nurse, supervisory, or nursing leadership experience preferred
- Comfortable providing both direct care and clinical leadership
- Experience with PointClickCare or another EHR/EMR system preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and provide direction during unexpected staffing or clinical situations
- Commitment to resident-centered care, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance
