Job Overview
Thomas and Reed, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper with strong experience using QuickBooks to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for classifying expenses, reconciling transactions, and preparing accurate monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) statements. The ideal candidate will ensure financial records are well-organized, accurate, and up to date, enabling better business decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who works independently, communicates clearly, and has a proven track record of accurate, timely bookkeeping for small businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update financial records using QuickBooks, accurately classifying and categorizing expenses
Perform account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of all accounts, including bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliation
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) statements
Execute double entry bookkeeping to track all transactions accurately
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts by analyzing financial data and trends
Collaborate with management to understand financial concepts and provide insights on cost-saving opportunities or unusual or missing transactions
Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts while maintaining accurate records of all transactions
Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations regarding financial records
Prepare books for tax filing and work with CPAs as needed
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role, demonstrating proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Quicken) with a minimum of two years of experience
Experience with account reconciliation, including bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation
Knowledge of technical accounting practices and double entry bookkeeping
Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies or errors in data
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and management
