Assistant Controller - Real Estate

Real estate industry experience and leadership skills are required.

Overview:
This position will report to the Controller and Managing Director of Accounting. 

• Hands-on Assistant Controller with the ability and desire to lead a team of accounting personnel
• Responsible for managing all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting related to owned properties
• Manage financial transactions and accounting activities related to acquisitions, sales and construction. Related to owned properties.  Research complex accounting issues     
• Prepare and reconcile schedules of capital contributions by investor and member loans.
• Oversee the preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Coordinate annual financial audits and reviews.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Effectively manage and mentor accounting team, including recruiting, training, and retaining talent.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, CPA highly preferred
• 5 years or more work experience in Real Estate
• Experience in real estate development, construction and Investment Accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Yardi experience preferred
