JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Engineering Director is a senior engineer that is recognized for achievement in the industry and within our Company. They are leaders focused on cross-organizational mentoring, employee development, process improvement and connecting project work to business strategy. The role involves being a force multiplier by advocating for best practices, reminding staff of why processes exist and helping less experienced engineers and consultants "level up".
Job Accountabilities:
- Developing an effective Quality Assurance Plan (technical competence of engineers, designers, and consultants).
- Executing an effective Quality Control Plan (technical accuracy of products and services).
- Representing line of business to Clients.
- Performing market analyses for line of business with new market BD targets.
- Develop revenue forecast and work to meet backlog and annual revenue growth targets for existing Clients.
- Turn commoditized services into value-added solutions. Identify the unique value of the solutions and educate SE staff on unique benefits, customer insights, and points of differentiation. Collaborate with the Business Development & Marketing group to develop value-added solutions.
- Developing skills, knowledge, abilities in engineering, design, and consulting staff. Developing core competency documents to guide this development.
- Developing and training best practices.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Leads and coordinates various engineering and consulting functions and operations including cross-organizational execution of the quality assurance plan.
- Be an ambassador for Company both internally and externally. Lead by example.
- Monitor pulse of Clients regarding satisfaction with SE services and SE personnel while addressing and resolving any sensitive issues that arise, internally and externally.
- Establishes, communicates, and implements engineering, consulting, development policies, practices, processes, standards, and quality assurance measures to ensure effective and consistent products and services
- Technical leader for a line of business. Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, emerging technologies, materials, and best practices; applies this knowledge to continually improve our product and production efficiency. Represents a line of business to our Clients.
- Collaborates with the Company's executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects to the engineering, technical, and consulting staff.
- Performs market analyses and submits reports to the Company's executive leadership.
- Creates project proposals.
- Performs project management duties as required with an emphasis on leveraging time by assigning projects and tasks to project managers. Develops and trains project managers.
- Collaborates with managers, leads, and supervisors to develop APR goals for engineering, technical, and consulting staff.
- Complete accurate timesheets daily.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program;
- PE License;
- Possess strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills and able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
- 15 years' experience in Distribution Engineering for the Energy industry;
- 15 years experience in progressive management
SKILLS:
- Strong (effective) written and verbal communication skills, exceptional computer skills, with emphasis in project management, spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Strong skills of time management, organizational and multi-tasking.
PHYSICAL:
- This position requires the ability to listen and hear, good eyesight, sitting, standing, walking, and use of hands and arms.

Salary : $180,000 - $220,000
