We are hiring an Accounting Manager for a well-established, fourth-generation, family-owned plumbing and HVAC contractor with more than 110 years of history, exceptional employee retention, and a highly collaborative culture.
This high-visibility role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations while partnering closely with ownership and a fractional CFO on financial reporting, operational improvements, and continued organizational growth initiatives.
The Accounting Manager will play a key role in managing construction accounting operations, month-end close, WIP schedules, payroll administration, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing operations, and internal process improvements across both Vista Viewpoint and ServiceTitan systems.

Responsibilities
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a construction and service-based organization
• Manage general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Manage WIP reporting and percentage of completion accounting for ongoing projects
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer billings, collections, and cash flow activities
• Manage AR and monthly billings processes across construction and service operations
• Administer payroll processing, payroll taxes, and union-related payroll activities
• Support 401(k) administration and employee benefit-related accounting functions
• Partner with ownership and the fractional CFO on budgeting, forecasting, operational reporting, and process improvements
• Help bridge accounting workflows and reporting between ServiceTitan and Vista Viewpoint ERP systems
• Oversee and support accounting staff while collaborating cross-functionally with project managers, service operations, and contracts teams
• Assist with audit preparation, compliance requirements, and internal control improvements
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiencies
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5 years of progressive construction accounting experience
• Strong experience with WIP reporting and percentage of completion accounting
• Experience managing general ledger accounting and month-end close processes
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, and financial reporting
• Understanding of construction accounting operations within project-based environments
• Experience within plumbing, HVAC, mechanical contracting, or specialty subcontractor industries preferred
• Experience within union shop environments preferred
• Strong Excel skills and experience working within ERP/accounting systems
• Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to operate effectively within a collaborative, family-oriented culture
