JOB SUMMARY:
The manufacturing engineer plans, organizes, and directs initiatives to meet company objectives for safety, quality, productivity, design, new product development and improvement of existing product and processes via analysis of product design for manufacturability, manufacturing methods and processes, machines, tooling, and materials. He/she will serve as inter-departmental liaison linking related departments into an effective and cohesive team.
REPORTS TO:
• Engineering Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that employee health and safety are primary considerations in all initiatives.
- Develop & implement improved manufacturing processes by studying product requirements and cutting-edge manufacturing materials, methods, and equipment.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Contribute to capital equipment plan as well as execute and report to management on capital equipment projects.
- Manage component procurement status, raw material allocation, routings, setup times, economic lot size and manufactured component costing.
- Oversee key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis.
- Review operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to ascertain engineering requirements to develop new markets.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and relevant events showcasing emerging technology or processes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office applications.
- Advanced 3D modeling experience using Inventor (preferred), SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Well-developed communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering or related field or an associate's degree in a manufacturing discipline and/or equivalent experience are required.
- Experience with safety, quality, lean manufacturing, tooling design, welding, machining, painting, assembly, and electricity/electronics preferred.
- Experience with capitol project justification and implementation preferred.
TRAVEL, HOURS OF WORK & SUPERVISION:
Hours are flexible. Overnight travel to Thermo Bond sites will be required. Overnight travel to suppliers, customers, and trade shows may be required on occasion
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This position is a full-time, salaried position that does not require hourly time reporting and is eligible to participate in Thermo Bond vacation, medical, 401K and life insurance programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (including but not limited to):
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facility.
- Able to lift/carry 15 lbs.
