Apparel Designer

The Workroom LA is a full-service apparel company specializing in designing, manufacturing, and distributing private label and branded apparel. We partner with retailers, brands, and creators to bring products from concept to reality through exceptional design, sourcing, development, and production.

The Role
As a Designer, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end design lifecycle, from initial concept through final production. This includes developing original product concepts, leading multiple rounds of design refinement, and collaborating closely with clients, production partners, and cross-functional teams to deliver commercially successful apparel collections.
You'll play a key role in balancing creativity with execution, ensuring each product aligns with customer expectations, brand identity, quality standards, and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete design lifecycle from concept through production.
- Develop seasonal concepts, mood boards, color palettes, and collection direction.
- Create original apparel designs, sketches, and technical flats using Adobe Illustrator.
- Build detailed tech packs and garment specifications.
- Oversee multiple design iterations based on client feedback, sample reviews, fit sessions, and production requirements.
- Collaborate directly with clients, Product Development, Merchandising, Sales, Production, and overseas factory partners throughout the development process.
- Review and comment on prototypes and production samples to ensure design intent and quality standards are maintained.
- Attend fittings and provide direction on garment construction, fit, and functionality.
- Research fashion trends, fabrics, trims, silhouettes, and emerging consumer preferences.
- Source fabrics, trims, and new product ideas that support seasonal collections.
- Help identify opportunities to improve product assortment and drive innovation.
- Maintain organized design files, seasonal calendars, and product documentation.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting development milestones and deadlines.
Qualifications
- 5 years of apparel design experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Experience creating professional tech packs and managing product development.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, fabrics, and apparel manufacturing.
- Ability to manage multiple design projects through numerous revisions while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with confidence collaborating across departments and with external partners.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Passion for apparel, product innovation, and continuous improvement.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience designing women's apparel.
- Experience in private label or wholesale apparel.
- Knowledge of knitwear, woven product, and outerwear.
- Experience working directly with overseas factories.
