Meat Department Assistant

Job Summary
The Wine’ing Butcher is looking for a Meat Department Assistant to join our small team. We are looking for someone energetic who enjoys helping customers and takes pride in selling high-quality meat products to our valued customers. The ideal candidate is friendly, approachable, and not afraid to engage with customers to help them find exactly what they’re looking for.

Duties

• Assist with preparing and packaging meat products
• Help customers by answering questions about cuts and products
• Keep the meat department clean, organized, and well stocked
• Support the butcher and team with daily tasks
• Label and display products properly
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
• Share ideas for new meats, cuts, or products that could improve the shop and attract customers

Requirements

• Previous experience in food production, food preparation or kitchen environments preferred (not requiered)
• Knowledge of cut of meats or willing to learn.
• Experience working in the food industry or restaurant setting. (not requiered but preffered)
• Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence
• Speak English and Spanish (preffered but not requiered)
• Be able to carry 50lbs
