About the Role
We are seeking a high-energy, results-driven Territory Sales Manager to drive sales growth, expand market share, and maximize profitability within an assigned territory while supporting The Wheel Group's vision and values.
This role is responsible for developing and executing territory sales strategies to grow TWG's customer base and expand sales channels. The Territory Sales Manager leads and supports a network of independent sales representatives, manages key customer relationships, and works cross-functionally with warehouse and operations teams to ensure accurate forecasting and on-time, complete customer deliveries. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about building customer relationships, communicates effectively with both customers and internal teams, and brings a proactive, results-oriented, "can-do" attitude to everything they do. This role reports directly to the Director of Sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, and manage all company sales channels to meet sales objectives.
- Develop and manage a network of independent sales representatives.
- Develop and manage customer relationships while driving new account growth.
- Track and record sales activity to ensure company sales objectives are achieved.
- Evaluate sales deals to ensure appropriate margins are secured.
- Work with the sales team to develop accurate sales forecasts to ensure on-time and complete customer shipments.
- Coordinate with warehouse operations to ensure alignment between sales activity and shipping and fulfillment requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Product teams to support customer satisfaction and business objectives.
- Lead and provide direction to the assigned sales team and network of independent sales representatives.
- Set performance expectations, monitor sales performance, and provide coaching to achieve territory objectives.
- Partner with warehouse operations to support sales activities and order fulfillment.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and company leadership.
Requirements
- 5 years of sales and/or sales management experience required.
- Proven track record of sales success in the automotive parts/aftermarket industry.
- Proven ability to work independently with an entrepreneurial mindset and a drive to achieve results.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development experience.
- Extensive experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and sales processes.
- Strong understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, and industry trends.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with a strong work ethic.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience selling to retail wheel and tire stores.
- Experience developing customer-specific product offerings based on customer needs.
- Experience leading new product launches and rollouts.
- Experience creating and implementing successful sales promotional programs.
- Experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment.
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
- Achievement of company sales objectives across all sales channels.
- Margin performance on closed sales deals.
- Sales forecast accuracy supporting on-time, complete customer shipments.
- Growth and retention of the independent sales representative network.
- New customer account growth and retention.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to safely perform the essential job functions consistent with federal, state, local, and/or provincial standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
- Travel required for sales activities within the assigned territory.
- Frequent in-person customer visits.
- Participation in trade shows, industry events, and sales meetings.
- Ability to lift and transport product samples and marketing materials (up to 75 lbs.).
- Frequent movement between office, warehouse, and customer locations.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Regular use of computers, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through virtual meeting platforms.
