GENERAL SUMMARY:
District Wharf Properties, LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. The Staff Accountant will support the accounting team for The District Wharf (“The Wharf”) a 3.2M SF mixed-use project on the Potomac River with retail, multifamily, office, hotel, maritime and entertainment uses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare month-end close for a number of entities across the Wharf portfolio.
- Record monthly journal entries and prepare/reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Work closely with property managers to ensure that accounting is correct at the Wharf properties.
- Deposit checks across numerous bank accounts.
- Perform bank reconciliations across numerous bank accounts.
- Prepare intercompany invoices for multiple Wharf entities.
- Upload and code payables for multiple Wharf entities and assist with check batching/payments.
- Prepare quarterly workpaper support for the consolidated Wharf entity.
- Support the annual audit.
- Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
- 2-5 years of accounting experience. Experience with A/P, A/R, and/or general ledger preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required. Experience with real estate accounting, MRI, or AvidXchange is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, and excellent organizational skills.
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be located in the Washington, DC area. This position is required to be in the office at the Wharf 4-5 days per week.

COMPENSATION: $70-75k
