The Front Desk Associate is responsible for ensuring daily operational readiness of the property at the start of each day and proper closeout at the end of each shift. This role ensures all systems, physical areas, and documentation meet company standards for safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and proactive in addressing maintenance, guest, and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities Opening Duties (Start of Shift)
- Conduct a full exterior walk of the property to confirm cleanliness, lighting, and security.
- Verify all entrances and common areas are in guest-ready condition.
- Check operational systems including WiFi access points, smart locks, and keyless entry devices.
- Review the Property Management System (PMS) for:
- New messages and guest communications
- Scheduled check-ins and check-outs
- Open work orders or pending tasks
- Inspect the first three rooms scheduled for turnover or new arrivals, identifying and flagging readiness issues.
Closing Duties (End of Shift)
- Confirm all storage rooms, supply areas, and offices are secured.
- Lock offices, laundry areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Update the operations log with:
- Guest issues or complaints
- Maintenance or equipment concerns
- Unresolved items requiring follow-up or escalation
- Submit an end-of-shift report in the designated system.
Accountability
- All checklist items are documented and reviewed daily.
- Missed or incomplete items are logged and followed up by management.
- Repeated lapses may result in retraining or disciplinary review.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or hospitality coursework preferred.
- 1 year of experience in hospitality, facilities, or property operations.
- Familiarity with smart locks, WiFi troubleshooting, and property management software (PMS).
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision across varying shifts.
- Must be able to walk the property regularly, lift up to 25 lbs, and respond quickly to on-site needs.
