Position summary:
Under supervision a packer will be able to perform, stage, wrap, box, and weigh all fresh or smoked meats and associated products. Additional responsibilities include recording correct weights on boxes and checking correct products enclosed. Make sure products are uniform prior to wrapping and boxing and ensure packaging is uniform and attractive. Trim excess or unwanted material when needed. Separate products into proper classification and visually inspect for unacceptable flaws or TQC concerns. Then preform final quality checks prior to release and maintain safety, sanitary, and TQC or USDA standards.

- Handle all products and equipment in the proper manner
- Place all products in the correct package
- Record and document all weights when necessary
- Assure products are placed in their proper container/carton
- Communicate all TQC concerns to supervisor
- Transport of product to other areas of production when necessary
- Keeping packaging supplies constant and replacing them when necessary
- Continually check for proper labels on all Leidy’s products and any private labels when necessary
- Maintain pace to achieve requested production levels
- Assure proper product is checked on carton
- Trim and clean any unwanted material or packaging if necessary
Qualifications and Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Be able to differentiate between products, private label products, and specialty cuts of a hog
- Possess basic math abilities
- Follow directions and be a team player
- Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift, pull, and push up to 30lbs
- Operate equipment and work near moving machinery
- Be on feet for up to 8-10 hours
- Fine motor and motor skill abilities (pinching, grasping, etc.)
- Ability to squat, bend, twist, kneel, reach, stand, walk, and climb frequently and as needed
