Essential Job Functions
Nutrition Advisory & Leadership (30%)
- Strategically position Wenger Nutrition Services as the preferred partner for protein producers by analyzing client needs, developing custom programs targeting future state, and demonstrating measurable results in a research and commercial environment.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market intelligence to guide innovation and service development for both current and new products and technologies.
- Serve as a techno-commercial expert, linking nutrition strategies to economic outcomes and ROI.
- Promote in-house capabilities (e.g., profitability modeling, lab support, risk management, food safety programs and certified processes) to build credibility of expertise and control on the supply and nutrient channel and customer trust.
- Engage directly with clients through farm visits, training their live production and technical teams on nutrition, and performance troubleshooting.
- Stay current on global nutrition research and apply findings to improve client outcomes.
- Collaborate with R&D, labs, and relationship teams to develop and test new programs.
- Represent TWG at industry events and in media to reinforce leadership in animal nutrition.
- Provide responsive, insightful technical support to internal teams and customers.
- Investigate and resolve nutrition-related issues and complaints.
- Train Relationship Managers and support the sales process with technical expertise.
- Analyze research trial data to inform strategies and solutions.
- Work with Formulations and Procurement to optimize ingredient use, cost, and availability.
- Ensure supplier compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
- Support marketing and training efforts with technical content and documentation
- Deepen relationships with existing clients through integrated support services.
- Partner with Relationship Managers to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Acquire new clients by understanding their systems and tailoring solutions to their goals.
- Design and deliver custom training programs with internal and external experts.
- Lead and develop a high-performing nutrition team through hiring, coaching, and training.
- Implement SOPs and systems to meet customer expectations and ensure service quality.
- Oversee the Wenger Animal Nutrition Academy to enhance team expertise.
- Ph D in animal nutrition or animal sciences specialized in poultry and monogastric species.
- 5-10 years hands-on experience in developing and delivering large scale, multi-location nutrition services in an integrated or commercial feed setting.
- Proficiency in feed formulation software, live production applications and interfacing with customer service, feed mill and finance applications.
Who you are:
- Ability to travel up to 50% of time to all the organization’s or customers’ facilities with the ability to traverse various conditions and terrains, in various climates.
- Ability to travel within the US or internationally as needed.
- Ability to relate technical knowledge to solve complex testing and process problems; translate and communicate analytical data and technical knowledge to technical and non-technical stakeholders; applying statistical and quality management tools: such as control charts, histograms, capability studies, etc.
- Ability to lead self-directed initiatives, both independently and as a small team leader
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization to address conflicts, resolve upset conditions, influence and facilitate behavioral change.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
