Job Description:
As a Line Cook at The Virginian, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking dishes to uphold the restaurant's standards of quality and consistency. With at least 3 years of experience as a line cook in a high-volume or fine dining setting, you will demonstrate proficiency in culinary techniques and a passion for creating exceptional dishes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to Hickory's recipes and specifications, ensuring adherence to quality and presentation standards.
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary ingredients and cooking equipment, including chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients as needed.
- Cook and plate dishes in a timely and efficient manner, coordinating with kitchen team members to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
- Monitor food temperatures and cooking times, adjusting heat levels and cooking techniques as needed to achieve desired results.
- Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures, including temperature monitoring, storage guidelines, and hygiene practices, to prevent foodborne illness and ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas, including equipment cleaning and sanitization, to uphold health and safety standards.
- Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation, ordering, and storage, to ensure adequate supply levels and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with kitchen team members to develop and refine recipes, techniques, and menu offerings, contributing to the culinary creativity and innovation of the restaurant.
- Uphold the Nicewonder’s standards of hospitality and service excellence, exceeding guest expectations with every dish.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a line cook in a high-volume or fine dining setting.

- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
