Position Overview
Servers at the Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards Tasting Room provide warm, knowledgeable, and engaging service that showcases our wines, cuisine, and hospitality. This role combines wine education with attentive table service, guiding guests through tastings, pairings, and events in a relaxed yet refined environment. Servers act as ambassadors for the Nicewonder brand, creating memorable experiences that reflect the spirit of the vineyard.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming, informative atmosphere for tastings and dining.
- Guide guests through wine tastings and menu offerings, sharing knowledge of varietals, production methods, and pairing recommendations.
- Deliver accurate, efficient, and attentive service across both wine and food orders.
- Present and pour wine according to tasting standards, ensuring proper glassware, pacing, and portion control.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and bar staff to ensure seamless coordination and timing of service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tables, tasting counters, outdoor areas, and service stations throughout the shift.
- Accurately process payments, handle cash or card transactions securely, and complete shift-end reconciliations.
- Support tasting room events, including live music, wine dinners, and private functions, by assisting with setup, service, and breakdown.
- Follow all health, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service standards in compliance with company and ABC policies.
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance wine knowledge and service techniques.
- Represent Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards with professionalism, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in a serving role within a restaurant, winery, or similar guest-facing hospitality setting.
- Strong wine knowledge with the ability to communicate varietal and pairing information clearly and confidently.
- Excellent interpersonal and multitasking skills; calm and professional in a fast-paced, outdoor or event-driven environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred:
- Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., ServSafe, TIPS).
- Previous experience in a winery, tasting room, or vineyard setting.
- Basic knowledge of POS systems and wine club operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of wine varietals, tasting techniques, and proper service standards.
- Thorough understanding of Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards’ in-house wines, production styles, and seasonal releases.
- Ability to create engaging guest experiences through storytelling and education.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills across departments.
- Professional, friendly demeanor with a passion for hospitality.
- Attention to detail and composure in a busy or outdoor service environment.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Fast-paced hospitality environment with indoor and outdoor service areas.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs (wine cases, trays, etc.).
- Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts required.
