Role & Responsibilities
- Provide specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery, including assessments, monitoring vital signs, administering treatments, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Collaborate with surgical teams, develop and implement post-operative care plans, and facilitate patient discharge and transport.
- Respond to emergencies promptly, document patient conditions, and operate PACU equipment like ventilators and monitors.
- Educate patients and families on recovery procedures and coordinate care continuity during handoffs.
- Minimum one year recent PACU RN experience and valid RN license.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS or ENPC preferred.
- Critical thinking, excellent communication, and physical and technical abilities to support patient recovery and assist with procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with healthcare teams and adapt to varying situations.
- Assess, monitor, and document patient recovery post-surgery.
- Administer medications, respond to emergencies, and ensure safety standards.
- Develop patient education and facilitate communication across care teams.
- Operate PACU-specific equipment and perform related duties within scope of practice.
