The MRI Technologist performs routine MRI procedures using professional judgment to ensure equipment safety, proper patient positioning, and image quality, adhering to Imaging Services Standards.

Responsibilities Include

  • Interpreting MRI orders and conducting examinations per established protocols.
  • Educating and screening patients, answering questions, and explaining procedures.
  • Researching implants for safety and preparing contrast media when needed.
  • Documenting procedures accurately in EMR and submitting exams with relevant prior studies.
  • Monitoring equipment for safe operation and reporting discrepancies.
  • Following departmental policies on safety, quality assurance, infection control, and environmental standards.
  • Assisting with facility and equipment maintenance, providing basic patient care, and ensuring safety, including emergency response readiness.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of medical technology and working at various locations as scheduled.
  • Upholding confidentiality and HIPAA compliance, performing technical and non-technical duties as directed.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; AA or AAS in Radiologic Technology Sciences.
  • Graduate of accredited programs or recognized clinical training.
  • State licenses (WA or Oregon) and ARRT registration in MRI required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Preferably two years of radiologic technologist experience prior to MRI training.
  • Knowledge of MRI procedures, safety protocols, anatomy, and computer applications.
  • Effective communication skills and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely enter MRI magnet room with implants.
  • Full range of motion, manual dexterity, and ability to lift patients up to 300 lbs.
  • Prolonged screen viewing, handling multiple demands, and travel between locations.
  • Corrected vision and hearing, with exposure to clinical hazards.
