Position Overview: The Cardio-Pulmonary Admit/Discharge RN provides care to primarily adult cardiac and pulmonary patients on a fast-paced 50-bed unit. Responsibilities include performing assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, managing cardiac drips, monitoring cardiac devices, and preparing patients for procedures such as catheterizations and device placements. The role involves medication administration, patient discharge education, and ensuring safety and effective communication within the interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications and Skills: Requires an Illinois RN license, BLS certification within 30 days, and ACLS certification within one year. Must have an associate’s degree or equivalent, with experience in cardiac and pulmonary patient care preferred. Strong communication skills, teamwork, conflict resolution, and proficiency with medical equipment like telemetry monitors and IV pumps are essential.
Key Duties: Conduct initial assessments, document care, modify care plans, manage acute and chronic conditions, collaborate with patients and families, and ensure safe patient transitions. Maintain compliance with departmental standards, participate in team huddles, delegate tasks appropriately, and uphold safety protocols to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
