JOB SUMMARY:
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing transportation activities. They collaborate with different departments, external partners, and transportation providers to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation solutions.
EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 1 years of relevant experience in shipping/receiving, transportation, logistics, or a related field.
Preferred: 1-2 years of relevant experience at a third-party logistics company or carrier.
POSITION REQUIREMENT(S): Specialized Skills/License/Certification
Required: Strong communication and negotiation skills. Adaptability and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. General understanding of LTL and FTL shipping practices.
Preferred: Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance.
CORE COMPETENCIES (Essential Job Functions)
- Manage and coordinate the scheduling of Full Truckload (FTL) carriers for multiple company locations.
- Evaluate transportation modes for customer orders to minimize freight expense.
- Assist with spot quotes.
- Assist with route planning and scheduling for both inbound and outbound shipments.
- Track service issues for Transportation Analyst to address with carriers.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams, customers, and transportation providers to resolve issues, provide updates, and maintain a high level of service.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, routes, and transportation-related documents such as customs paperwork.
- Identify areas for process improvement and assist with implementing transportation efficiency enhancements.
- Other duties as assigned.
