Purpose of Position

Responsible for in-depth analysis of Leases, Contracts, title documents, pooling and unitization, legal opinions, well data, production data, revenue data, and maps required to determine proper ownership calculations and reconcile revenue payments made by Operators, Lessees, Purchasers relative to the mineral acreage, surface, and depth ownership of University Lands. Also responsible for maintaining accurate surface and depth ownership records and working with internal departments and external parties to secure the required ownership and payment records.

Correspondence with the operators and internal departments on University Lands ownership position as necessary to ensure data compliance and accurate ownership records. Serves as Team Lead providing guidance and training for new Analysts and Interns, creating/updating department guidelines & training materials and measuring/monitoring progress with department data statistics in the monthly reports to management.

Essential Functions

  • Collect, analyze, enter and maintain internal ownership records at multiple levels (lease, lease tract, unit & unit tract). Experienced analysis of internal records, title and data received from operators, lessees, internal and external data sources regarding surface and depth ownership as it relates to UL’s ownership. Including but not limited to well data and status, drilling and completion reports, production history, payment requirements, post-production charges, pooling & unitization agreements, down-hole commingles, marketing arrangements and all other data required to reconcile revenue & determine accurate payment to UL.
  • Monitor Drilling Reports for Regulatory and statutory compliance of oil and gas operators on University Lands’ acreage and depths as to timely and proper royalty payments.
  • Work with internal departments and Operators to ensure University Lands’ records are current and complete.
  • Provide Energy Industry education and assistance in reference to University Lands’ data requirements and use of public website to both internal and external parties.
  • Educate, train & monitor ownership data to ensure UL’s contractual compliance for proper royalty payment.
  • Serve as Lead for educating, training, and monitoring the Division Order function and responsibilities as to purpose, workloads, gap analysis & monthly Management Reports.

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Three (3) years’ experience in lease, contract and/or title analysis
  • Bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience up to the equivalent of two years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in related field or commensurate Energy Industry experience
  • Senior level Division Order Analyst experience preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Division Order Analyst
  • Experience working with the Texas Railroad Commission and external data resources

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. Participation in TRS is mandatory.

A background check will be conducted on candidates under final consideration. Background checks are conducted by third-party vendors. Upon request form the third-party vendor, candidates under final consideration must provide the required information for the background checks to be completed.
