Job Summary

The Research Assistant provides assistance/support for research projects in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Medicine as part of the TX Child Mental Health Care Consortium TX Youth Depression Suicide Research Network (TX-YDSRN).

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor for participant referrals and follow up with participants via calls/emails tracking participant status.
• Assist with recruitment and screening as needed.
• Schedule participant appointments and follow up on no shows, cancellations, etc.
• Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into database.
• Collect assessment data from patients at the baseline visit and subsequent visits as specified by the research protocol.
• Submit documentation per protocol in REDCap system.
• Document adverse and suicidality events.
• Identify and document protocol deviations as required per protocol.
• Notify Research Coordinator of participant withdrawals and protocol deviations.
• Organize file system, copy assessments, and self-audit files.
• Provide resources to participants as needed.
• Obtain required certifications for providing assessments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant to the field of work preferred.
• Two years of relevant experience preferred.

Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Excellent written and verbal communication.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various delicate, formal or urgent situations.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.

Clinical Position Requirements

Clinical positions require pre-screening through our Occupational Health department, including a drug test. Employees are required to obtain annual influenza vaccines.
