Job Summary
Assist and support to the head men's and women's cross country/track and field coach with general operations, coaching and the recruitment of student-athletes. The selected candidate will share responsibilities with other coaching staff to ensure the academic and athletic success of student-athletes. The individual will assist in promoting Patriot athletics as an integral part of the University
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Plan, coach, and supervise practices.
- Recruit future student athletes.
- Schedule travel.
- Develop a competitive competition schedule.
- Oversee equipment inventory.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required from accredited college or university.
- 3 years of hands-on experience working with student-athletes in the shot put, hammer throw, discus and javelin events.
- Candidate will need a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Education/Experience
- 5 years of successful college coaching experience and/or high level college competition experience preferred.
- USATF or USTFCCCA coaching certification
- Master’s degree from accredited college or university
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
- Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques associated with track and field, specifically men’s and women’s shot put, hammer, discus and javelin events.
- Knowledge of Lone Star Conference and NCAA II rules and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate complex tasks and procedures.
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Willingness and ability to work effectively with all campus and associated constituencies.
- Has familiarity with computer technology and social media platforms.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
