Digital Marketing Specialist

About Founding Forward: Founding Forward is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to informing and engaging citizens through transformational educational experiences grounded in American history. These experiences empowers students, educators, and communities to understand, appreciate, and practice the principles, rights, and responsibilities of American citizenship. Founding Forward operates and is located in the Sir John Templeton Heritage Center – a research, exhibit, and programming space, located in The Union League of Philadelphia and its 75-acre educational campus in Valley Forge, PA.

Position Summary: The Digital Marketing Specialist will collaborate, create, develop, and implement digital marketing strategies and campaigns to increase awareness of the Founding Forward brand, its mission, and its civic education programs and resources. Strategies and campaigns include social media, paid social media, and email. This position is in-person, primarily based out of the Valley Forge office, with frequent travel to Philadelphia, Lafayette Hill, and other occasional program locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Social media: Develop and execute a complex content calendar to maintain brand identity, while also implementing campaigns for program recruitment, event promotion, and fundraising. Grow social media presence with fresh and relevant content while employing emerging trends and using metrics to track, analyze, and inform ongoing work. Create and edit short form videos for social, along with paid campaigns, SEO and other tools on all social media channels.
• Website: Update, manage, and optimize Founding Forward’s website performance and content, including creating and updating events, programs, posts, and graphic elements. Advance presence by using SEO and other tools to maximize and advance impact. Work with the Union League Marketing team to maximize Founding Forward’s web presence and impact.
• Visual Production: Take, edit, and produce high quality photographs of educational programs, donor events, historic collections, and more. Develop visuals for email campaigns, recruitment, and event promotion.
• Collaboration: This position will need to work closely with all on the Founding Forward team, including the rest of the marketing team, and the Union League Marketing department too.

Skills for success will include strong writing skills, interpersonal skills, a strong attention to detail and follow-through, the ability to multi-task, and manage systems. Candidate should be a self-starter, while able to take the initiative and interact effectively with all levels of staff, volunteers, and the general community. Candidate should be passionate about education and engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Marketing, Communications, or related field
• 3-4 years digital marketing experience
• Experience with some of the following: Canva, Adobe Suite, WordPress, MailChimp, Salesforce, social media management platforms (such as Hootsuite), and video editing software
• Must have driver’s license and reliable transportation
