What are the responsibilities and job description for the IRD Order Taker position at THE UMSTEAD HOTEL & SPA?
As an AM In Room Dining Order Taker at The Umstead Hotel & Spa, the primary function of this position is to take all orders over telephone or from pre-order forms and enter them into Micros. Order Takers will take guests requests and communicate all information to the servers so they can create a complete dining experience with tasks congruent to Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond Standards of service.
Job Requirements:
- Records order and time received on ticket to ensure prompt service.
- Suggests menu items, and substitutions for items not available.
- Answers questions regarding food or service.
- Distributes order tickets to servers and records them on the computer.
- Will collect charge vouchers and cash from service and close out checks appropriately.
- Will create a hard copy and computer copy off all food order tray pickups, miscellaneous requests and amenities.
- Maintain constant communication with Guest Relations and Front Desk staff to ensure timely delivery of daily amenities.
- Ensure daily amenity orders have been placed with Culinary and Pastry and check for accuracy and add-ons throughout shift.
- Communicate all relevant information pertaining to guests to Front Office, In Room Dining Captains and Management.
- Relay all guest related issues to Management daily.
- In addition other duties may be required as directed by your manager
Leadership Requirements
- To be communicative and forthcoming with information vital to service within the Food and Beverage Department, the Hospitality division and all other outlets of The Umstead Hotel and Spa.
Additional Information for Success:
- Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
