What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bar & Lounge Server Assistant position at THE UMSTEAD HOTEL & SPA?
It is the responsibility of the Bar & Lounge Server Assistant to help maintain an impeccable appearance and the smooth operations of the Bar & Lounge. Duties will include bussing and resetting tables, maintaining floor presence to observe and anticipate guest needs, and assisting Servers and Bartenders throughout the shift.
Job Requirements:
- Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed & in line with all Umstead Grooming Standards.
- Maintain a clean environment conducive to the service of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as
- food.
- Retain full knowledge of food and beverage menus.
- Maintain floor presence throughout the entire lounge and terrace area by circulating routinely.
- Maintain an attractive and safe environment by keeping the Lounge and Terrace free of debris at all times.
- Assist Bartenders and Servers as needed.
- Assist in bussing and resetting tables in the dining room, outdoor terrace, and lounge.
- Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and
- requests.
- Consistently perform tasks with little direct supervision.
- Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
- Complete side work and stocking in a clean and timely matter on a daily basis.
- Assist in the clearing and resetting of tables, and transport of food to and from kitchens as needed.
- Coordinate activities with team members to execute a smooth flowing dining experience for guests.
- Display a cordial, accommodating, and hospitable disposition while interacting with guests.
- Transport supplies as needed.
- In addition, other duties may be required as directed by your Manager.
Physical Requirements:
- Most work tasks are performed indoors though there will be also be restaurant seating as well as cocktail tables
- outdoors on the terrace.
- Physical ability to walk and handle trays, food items, glasses, etc. in a safe and constructive manner for at least 4
- hours at a time.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely
- basis.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
- Ability to use hotel point-of-sale computer systems.
