Assistant Project Manager – Historic Restoration Construction

The Tradesmen Group LLC (TTG) is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Project Manager to join our team based out of our corporate office in Plain City, Ohio. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can juggle multiple responsibilities, and is passionate about contributing to meaningful restoration work. Candidates should have either a 2-year degree in construction management or at least 5 years of experience in commercial renovation or restoration. Prior experience in historic preservation is a bonus but not required.
TTG is a nationally respected, 100% employee-owned construction firm focused on restoring historically significant buildings. With offices and yards in Washington, D.C., Nashville/Chattanooga, TN, and Savannah, GA, TTG self-performs a wide range of trades including masonry, roofing, architectural metals, carpentry, and painting.
Key Duties
- Assist in overseeing projects of varying sizes to ensure alignment with contract terms and timelines
- Participate in project meetings and provide administrative support
- Review plans and assist in obtaining quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
- Help manage construction documentation and reporting
- Prepare and organize forms, correspondence, and project records
- Submit and track RFIs, submittals, and change orders using project management tools
- Support senior project managers throughout all phases—from bidding to close-out
Qualifications
- Associate degree in construction or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Background in construction management or business administration
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and terminology
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Office365)
- Comfortable with digital tools for spreadsheets, databases, and document control
- Excellent planning and analytical abilities
- Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities
- Prior experience or internship in construction preferred
