Weekly Hours: 37.5 Hours / Week
Title: Recreation Summer Counselor
Location: Floral Street School.
Bargaining Unit: Non-Union
Hiring Range: $15.50 Per hour
Department & Supervisor: Recreation, Recreation Coordinator - Programs
Summary
Do you love the outdoors, working with kids, and creating unforgettable summer memories? If you're ready to spend your summer leading exciting activities, making a positive impact, and having a blast in the sun, we want YOU on our team!
What You’ll Do:
As a counselor, you may be assigned to our traditional Recreation Summer program (for children ages 5-10) or our Teen Travelers program for middle schoolers. Your daily responsibilities include:
- Facilitating activities like sports, arts & crafts, swimming, hiking, and team-building exercises.
- For Teen Travelers, supervising participants during off-site field trips to amusement parks, beaches, and museums.
- Inspiring campers to build confidence, try new things, and foster a positive group culture.
- Maintaining program rules, managing behavior, and following safety protocols to keep every participant secure.
Working alongside an awesome team of fellow counselors to keep the summer organized and high-energy!
What We’re Looking For:
Must be at least 16 years old (18 preferred for Teen Travelers Program)
- Passion for working with kids and making summer amazing!
- Leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to be active outdoors in all kinds of weather.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
A positive, adaptable, and teamwork-driven attitude.
Bonus Skills:
Experience with arts, drama, music, or sports.
- Outdoor adventure skills.
Previous experience in a camp, recreation, or educational setting.
Salary : $16
