Summary
The Town of Shrewsbury is seeking an energetic leader passionate about athletics to serve as our Recreation Summer Sports Specialist. In this role, you will create and lead engaging sports programs that inspire teamwork, skill building, and a love for physical fitness among all participants.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement sports and physical activity programs tailored to various age groups and skill levels.
- Provide instruction in a variety of sports, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, and baseball, while fostering a love for physical activity.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition among all participants.
- Monitor camper progress and adapt activities as needed to ensure every child is engaged and successful.
- Ensure all sports equipment and facilities are safe and well-maintained while upholding behavioral guidelines.
Assist with general Recreation Summer operations and supervision to ensure a secure environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience coaching, teaching, or working with children in an athletic or summer program setting.
- Strong knowledge of various sports, physical fitness principles, and effective coaching techniques.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to lead groups effectively.
- The ability to adapt activities to accommodate different skill levels and abilities.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the program start date).
