What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker/Session Worker for Bereavement Groups position at The Suffolk Y JCC?
Summary:
Lead and facilitate support groups. Provide individual consultation as needed for emotional support to support group participants. The groups run for 8 consecutive weeks, once a week and are from 6:30-8:00/8:30pm.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Facilitate bereavement, and other support groups.
· Provide information/referrals to individuals and families involved in support groups.
· Maintain documents, records, statistics and evaluations to ensure the program is rendering quality services to all participants.
· Communicate with support group participants about group goals and structure, schedule changes and any important information related to the group.
· Provide crisis intervention and follow-up services for support group participants when needed.
· Model and promote the organization’s mission, values, and guiding principles through positive attitude, appropriate appearance, words, and actions; and comply with the organization’s policies and procedures.
· Engage in opportunities to positively interact with members leading to a positive member experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part time position. Support groups meet once a week for a series of 8 weeks. Groups meet for 1-2 hrs depending on the type of group.
Required Education and Experience
MSW degree required. NYS license to practice required. Clinical license preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
· Experience in working in short-term/solution-oriented modalities and groups required
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
· Demonstrated competency in written, verbal and computational skills to present and document records in accordance with program standards.
Pay: $50.00 per hour
