The State of New Hampshire, Department of Corrections, Division of Personnel & Information has a full-time vacancy for a Human Resources Coordinator.
Summary:
To coordinate and monitor the personnel management activities of the assigned Divisions for the NH Department of Corrections including implementing agency personnel programs and resolving staffing or other personnel management issues.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience OR equivalent combination of 5 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in business or public administration, policy development, human resources, labor relations, recruitment, education, counseling, social services, or a related field.
License/Certification: Valid driver’s license or access to transportation
Other Requirements: Must pass security and background screenings required for correctional environments
Trainee Option: Candidates with an equivalent combination of 4 years of relevant education and experience after completion of high school may be considered and hired in ‘trainee status’ for this position.

When applicable, the work of an employee in trainee status in this position shall be overseen by a fully qualified individual. An employee in trainee status shall meet the minimum qualifications within the period of time specified on the SJD, not to exceed one year of being hired into this position.
Responsibilities:
Implements daily human resources functions in a variety of areas, including training, classification, recruitment, benefits, examinations, employee relations and time management.
Coordinates all aspects of human resources programs, including explaining and enforcing personnel rules, collective bargaining provisions and departmental policies.
Ensures that all assigned Division personnel have their work performance evaluated at least once a year.
Maintains active recruitment program as liaison with the NH Department of Corrections’ Human Resources Administrator or designee and facilitates the coordination of hiring, promotional boards and any scheduled testing.
Establishes methods at the institution to ensure procedures are in place to achieve compliance with departmental policies. Provides suggestions for improving personnel procedures and implements the changes as appropriate.
Acts as an advisor to supervisors and management regarding employee disciplinary actions, informal settlements and grievance process and other employment matters.
Acts as the Workers Compensation agent for the respective work areas to ensure employee injury claims are submitted timely and monitors employees’ absences and their return to work.
Represents the Department and provides testimony at Personnel Appeals Hearings, Worker’s Compensation Claims Hearings and Unemployment Hearings.
