Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist prepare oral and intravenous medications for administration. Procure and distribute prescription medication orders per physician and pharmacist instruction. Maintain and generate patient reports and records through the applicable computer system. Maintain appropriate investigational medication records, as assigned. Maintain adequate medication inventories and pharmacy supplies.
Maintaining inventories include but is not limited to ordering, receiving, unpacking, recording and storing all medications and pharmacy supplies.
Contribute to the effective operation of the pharmacy department which requires daily and accurate medication computer order entries, accurate recording of patient credits and charges, and all patient information. Conduct inventory of all medication as required. Responsible for daily filing and orderly maintenance of paperwork. Record and maintaining freezer, refrigerator, and room temperature monitoring logs. Demonstrate acceptable oral and written communication skills and courteous telephone operating skills. Organize and prioritize work assignments. Maintain current technician certification by completing all competence/skill assessment testing and attend continuing education programs. A true and correct copy of renewal certificate must be provided Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Licenses: Current Pharmacy technician certification from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Experience: One to two years of IV and/or chemotherapy admixture experience preferred but not required. IV / chemotherapy certification is a plus.
