About the job
The people here at the Spacestation make A for Adley, Best Day Ever, G for Gaming and Spacestation Animation come to life. 20 billion views across all channels, a weekly release on each channel, some are twice a week, and a studio in Layton where the videos actually get made.
We're adding editors who can take a day of raw footage and find the story in it.
You would have responsibility for each edited video start to finish: watch everything, decide with direction what the episode is about, build the rough cut, take notes from the lead editor / creator, and land the final. Most weeks that's one long-form episode (20 - 40 minutes finished) plus the shorts that come off it.
What we're looking for
- You've cut long-form YouTube before and can show it. One video you cut end to end tells us more than a reel.
- You solve story problems. If a joke needs four seconds, you give it four seconds. If a segment drags, you cut it.
- You're fast on a rough cut: a day of footage to a watchable rough in a day.
- Premiere Pro required. After Effects or motion basics are a plus but not required.
- Understanding our target audience. Kids 6 - 12 and their parents. If you've made things for them before, say so. If you have kids who watch, say that too.
- Coachable. We hire on warmth, curiosity, work ethic and honesty first and teach the rest.
- Live in or near Layton preferred. Possibly open to remote applicants.
