Nurse Coordinator | Southeastern Connecticut – New London, CT

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Coordinator to support the management and day-to-day operations of our nursing units — helping to ensure the delivery of high-quality, recovery-oriented care to every individual we serve.

What You'll Do:

As Nurse Coordinator, you will be a key contributor to the safe, smooth, and compassionate operation of SCADD's nursing units. Working collaboratively with nursing staff, physicians, and the multidisciplinary care team, and under the direction of the Director of Nursing, you will help ensure that every client receives care that is recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and grounded in dignity and respect.

Responsibilities include:

  • Screen and review incoming medical information and client records to determine appropriateness for admission to the unit 
  • Facilitate and coordinate smooth shift flow and efficiency by assigning nurses to roles and responsibilities during each shift 
  • Coordinate with the Nurse Manager to identify and fill upcoming shift vacancies to ensure appropriate staffing levels
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary staff to coordinate integrated, client-centered care
  • Provide clear explanations of basic care, test procedures, and care philosophy to clients and families as needed 
  • Enforce adherence to State Board of Nursing regulations and Connecticut nurse practice requirements 
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by upholding and enhancing current health procedures and protocols 
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of client clinical records Assist with inventory of medications and medical supplies 
  • Support the effective fiscal management of the unit and ensure the proper utilization of organizational resources 
  • Participate in the orientation of new employees and support the transfer of knowledge necessary for the performance of duties

What You'll Need:

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • 1–2 years of nursing experience required 
  • Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) License 
  • Current BLS Certification 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly in one-on-one and group settings 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, multidisciplinary staff, clients, and families 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with minimal direction
