1:1 School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) Opportunity – High School Student

The Nurse Network is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide one-on-one medical support to a student with complex medical needs in a high school setting. This rewarding position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a student's daily life while providing consistent nursing care in an educational environment.
The nurse will accompany the student to and from school, provide individualized medical care throughout the school day, and ensure the student's safety, comfort, and well-being while following their individualized care plan.
School-Year Schedule (Times May Vary):
- Monday: 8:20 AM – 2:25 PM
- Tuesday: 8:30 AM – 11:55 AM
- Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 2:45 PM
- Thursday: 9:45 AM – 2:25 PM
- Friday: 8:20 AM – 2:25 PM
Summer School (ESY) Opportunity Available
We are also seeking nursing coverage for the student's Extended School Year (ESY) program.
ESY Schedule:
- Monday – Thursday
- July 6 – July 23
- Class Hours: 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Requirements
- Active Connecticut RN License
- Strong respiratory and tracheostomy care skills (required)
- G-tube experience
- Compassion, patience, and a passion for working with children
- Experience with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and VP Shunt awareness preferred (magnet sensitivity knowledge required)
- Pediatric experience preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Meet the student at the designated transportation pickup location each morning
- Provide direct nursing care during transportation and throughout the school day
- Monitor for changes in condition and respond according to the individualized care plan
- Perform tracheostomy care, suctioning, and G-tube feedings via pump as needed
- Assist with transfers using a mechanical lift and provide incontinence care as required
- Support communication needs while fostering a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment
- Accompany the student during the afternoon ride home
- Collaborate with school staff, family members, and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care
