Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments to ensure performance, reliability, and availability
- Provide secondary support for Oracle database environments
- Perform routine database maintenance including backups, restores, patching, upgrades, and health checks
- Diagnose and resolve database performance issues, availability problems, and data integrity concerns
- Design and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, including regular testing
- Implement and maintain database security and access controls
- Partner with application developers and infrastructure teams to support database-dependent systems
- Support database platform upgrades, modernization efforts, and lifecycle management
- Contribute to operational reporting related to backups, availability, and system health
- Participate in on-call support for production database systems
- Document database standards, procedures, and configurations
- 5 years of experience administering enterprise-level database environments
- Advanced administration and performance tuning for Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience supporting high-availability, business-critical systems
- Experience implementing automation or process improvements within database operations
- Strong troubleshooting skills in complex database environments
- Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
- Knowledge of database security and auditing practices
- Experience with automation and scripting (such as PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL, or similar tools)
- Familiarity with database monitoring and alerting tools
- Working knowledge of Oracle database administration (preferred)
