What are the responsibilities and job description for the Team Leader- Packaging Department position at The Scoular Company?
The Team Leader is a working lead who will perform a variety of tasks to lead hourly team members in the areas of Production, Sanitation, and other functional areas of the facility. Responsibilities include overseeing the training of new team members, troubleshoot process issues, and serve as a shift production subject matter expert. Leaders will be required to ensure all safety, quality and sanitary production standards are met.
- Work safely, complying with all safety, quality and sanitation policies and procedures and proactively identify and report potential safety hazards so they can be corrected.
- Assign and modify staffing and job assignments based on sick calls and last-minute production needs.
- Notify supervisor of any policy violations or safety violations. Conduct initial reports on safety and production issues.
- Operate all equipment as outlined in SOP, conduct set up and break down of equipment as required. Notify maintenance of mechanical problems and assist with basic troubleshooting.
- Serve as safety representative on assigned shift, reporting all safety concerns or issues to supervisors and managers
- Meet or exceed daily production or department standards set by supervisors or team.
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures, carrying out duties following Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S practices, and being responsible for hygiene and housekeeping in a specified work area.
In performing their responsibilities, employees are expected to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision, interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers, work effectively as a team contributor and independently while understanding the necessity for communication with other employees and throughout Scoular.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Able to read, write and speak English fluently
- Computer skills--the ability to learn company‐specific programs
- Ability to enter production data into a computer terminal
- Able & willing to work all shifts/schedules as needed including overtime
- Lift to 50 pounds, climb stairs, kneel, stoop, sit, walk extensively throughout a 10 - 12-hour shift
Physical environment/working conditions:
- This position will be required to work frequently indoors a cooled sanitary environment with temperatures 45 degrees or below.
- Infrequently around loud production equipment.
