American Guardian Warranty Services, Inc. (AGWS), an affiliate of Reynolds and Reynolds, is looking for a Warranty Financial Accountant – Automotive to join our growing team. As a Warranty Financial Accountant you will be responsible for developing, improving, and streamlining accounting processes and internal financial controls and procedures. You will perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and operational closes for reporting, planning, forecasting, analytics, internal and external stakeholders, reinsurance functions, and other ad-hoc deliverables.

As a Warranty Financial Accountant you will be responsible for developing, improving, and streamlining accounting processes and internal financial controls and procedures. You will perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and operational closes for reporting, planning, forecasting, analytics, internal and external stakeholders, reinsurance functions, and other ad-hoc deliverables.
Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Support the day-to-day operation, performing routine to complex accounting functions with journal entries, providing necessary data/analyses and support to team.
- Assists in month-end and year-end close cycles by performing journal entries for multiple legal entities, account variance analysis, reconciliations, automating and documenting processes, and other various ad-hoc reporting tasks.
- Lead in assisting with internal and external audits, compiling financial footnotes, regulatory reporting, and other reporting deliverables (insurance/statutory, and other duties as assigned).
- Ability to translate large and complex data into proposed journal entries and/or potential automation to the general ledger with input from Controller and/or VP of Accounting.
- Assist accounting and support staff in daily related functions, month-end and year-end tasks, and lead in special projects, as assigned.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, collaboration, and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field required
- 5-7 years of warranty and/or insurance experience in the automotive industry strongly preferred
- Experience working with ASC 606 required
- Experience in US GAAP reporting and managing standalone entities and/or journalizing underwriting activity required
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams)
