The Office of Undergraduate Admission is hiring undergraduate interns for the Summer of 2026 (April 21 – August 24). Interns are responsible for welcoming guests and leading our office’s daily tours for prospective students and visiting groups. We invite current students with strong public speaking skills and a deep love for UVA to apply. You will be the face of UVA to all visitors and prospective students. Duties: Attend scheduled training sessions between April 21 – 30th. We will work with you to schedule these. Beginning May 18, work approximately 12-20 hours/week Monday – Saturday. Summer interns may work up to 39 hours per week maximum as student employees. Provide tours for prospective students and visiting groups. The Office of Undergraduate Admission offers tours daily Monday-Saturday during the summer. Tour shifts are roughly 2-hours in length between the hours of 9:00am – 5:00pm. Interns must be available for at least six tours per week. The summer semester tour shifts are subject to change, but they are tentatively as follows: Monday – Saturday 10:20-12:00pm and Monday – Friday 2:20-4:00pm. There will also be Group Visit tours for specialty visiting groups around these hours. Serve at the Office of Undergraduate Admission front desk, greeting guests and answering phone calls. Work alongside Deans on Admission projects, such as social media and marketing, student outreach, inventory management, and event planning. Participate in training and professional development activities. Serve as positive and respectful stewards of the UVA community as a public-facing member of the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Ensure that the guest experience is easy, friendly, informative, fun, and inspiring. Assist with special events such as admission open houses, including some additional Saturday events. Perform other related duties as requested, including, but not limited to, reception work, clerical tasks, etc. Perform work in a professional manner and complete assignments on time. Observe time reporting rules and regulations. Be punctual. Maintain a friendly, helpful, supportive, and team-like atmosphere among coworkers. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This job requires significant physical activity including walking around Grounds outdoors to give tours. Tours take place in various weather conditions.
